The story goes that when the first espresso coffees were sold in Lisbon, the public found them so bitter that the owner of the coffee shop invented a slogan to help sales: "Bebe Isto Com Açucar”, which translates to “Drink It With Sugar."
It was so successful that its initials “BICA” are now synonymous of coffee. The Portuguese eschew the use of customary Italiano for this legendary beverage: curto, cheio, pingado, galão, meia de leite, carioca, americano, each with its slight nuance and flavour… There's really a coffee for every taste.

Four varieties from the British-based Difference Coffee Company’s elite collection of 100% Special Grade Arabicas can currently be sniffed and sipped here. “Exquisite” Jamaica Blue Mountain, “prized” Wild Kopi Luwak (Indonesia) and “competition-winning” Kona (Hawaii) are delighting coffee drinkers from the casually curious to aficionados.
